Facility and Payor Resources

April 11, 2016 Message from the MHDO Executive Director Re: The CompareMaine 2.0 Release

Greetings from the Maine Health Data Organization (MHDO). It is hard to believe that we are well into the year 2016. As you may remember in October 2015 we launched www.comparemaine.org, a website that allows consumers to compare the cost and quality of over 200 health care procedures by facility (162 facility groups comprising 237 facilities including hospitals, surgical centers, diagnostic imaging centers, labs clinics) by the top 5 health insurance companies in the State of Maine or by an aggregate of all insurance companies that submit claims data to the MHDO.

The law that requires the MHDO to publicly report this data also requires that the MHDO update the information on our website every six months. In order to keep track of releases we are versioning each release. The next release of CompareMaine is V2.0 which is scheduled for this spring. Not only will we be updating the cost data on the site but there are several other additions and or enhancements that we are making in this release. On April 5th we held a webinar to review the changes to the website and discuss the data review period. The webinar slides and recording (on YouTube) are available. Also note, the timeline has changed slightly from what was discussed during the webinar and has been updated on the slides and on the timeline below.

The following are important dates and activities for the CompareMaine 2.0 release:

  • April 5th, 2016 1:00-2:00pm: Webinar scheduled to review cost data spreadsheets and release 2.0 additions and enhancements
